While inspecting a floating ball my 600 Tekota reel and rod begin slipping off the holder into the lake because the retaining ring had somehow opened. I just grabbed it as it was going under. That's a $300 reel there! I ended up with a couple of bruises but they were worth it.

First fish of 2023

The first muskie of 2023. A 38 incher, caught end of May 20 on a Bondy jig. The only cam working was the net cam that had limited audio with it's waterproof case, so I augmented with music. I had to cut the hooks as it was way too tangled in the net after a few thrashes on the muskie's part.

Paddlers in October, not aware of the dangers of cold water and no life jackets in a boat traffic area. I tried to give them a friendly warning but somehow the guy thought I was circling them shouting "You'll die! You'll die!" when his buddy saw their photo on Facebook and he retold the tale as he 'heard' it. This says otherwise.

I'm in a muskie tournament fishing a stretch of shoreline and a boat full of crappie fishermen motor up and park themselves right in front of me and never say a thing or even acknowledge my presence. How rude.

I WILL call the ranger on your DA if you're being unsafe out there. Did it to some jet skiers without life jackets running in circles around me towing a raft. One fell off and it took him ten seconds to surface. Ranger came, they got a ticket.

Matthew Lucas use muskie spinner baits right after the spawn. I put 30 lbs of bass in the boat one day.
